This splendid palace belonged to the della Rosa feudatories when it still maintained its austere castle aspect; later it was refined and rendered more noble to serve as a luxurious summer residence for the princes of Modena (at the end of the 16th century the d’Este family moved from Ferrara to Modena).
Today, after careful restoration, 28 of the palace’s sumptuous rooms are open to visitors to admire the elegant architecture, paintings and sculptures as well as rich furnishings.
