This recently constructed museum has an enormous collection (more than 10,000 pieces) of organic and inorganic natural specimens, including small minerals, fossils, insects, mammals, wood, shells, fruits, and so on. Scientifically, each of these types of specimens corresponds to a precise discipline, in the case of the museum it corresponds to an orderly classification and knowledgeable exhibit including appropriate explanations and descriptions.
The collection of specimens, begun by the illustrious 19th-century scholar and citizen of Ascoli, Antonio Orsini, and to whom the museum is dedicated, is on view in the Palazzo Travaglia.
