Near the funicular station of Mt. Blanc (Mt. Bianco in Italian), at 2175 m elevation, you can find Europe’s highest botanical garden.
It is also possible to reach the garden by foot, by way of the demanding but not dangerous path that winds its way along the craggy slopes of Mont Frety, a sort of point of departure for ascents to the ‘great white mountain’.
The garden is a true gem: about 800 plant species, from various environments (e.g. bog and moraine), are presented in an orderly and informative way.
Young visitors will also find the garden interesting and captivating and much information is also presented about glaciology, and alpine fauna and flora.
