On the Sunday following Easter every year, the liberation of Lucca and Garfagnana from Pisa is remembered. These celebrations have taken place since 1369. Originally, and for much of the last century, it was an occasion for the country folk to meet and trade goods of all types at the numerous stalls set up in the streets of the town. Added to the generally agrarian air of the fair is touristic aspect, attracting visitors from near and far to Pieve Fosciana not only in their search for hard-to-find objects but also to enjoy the various organized exhibitions such as those of musical bands and concerts.
